What is smocking?
Smocking is a traditional needlework technique. The fabric is gathered into tiny, even pleats and stitched over with decorative embroidery to hold them in place. It gives a textured panel with a classic, heirloom feel. Here, the smocking panel is embroidered with birthday girl, and the tie bow at the back means the romper looks just as pretty from behind in photos.

How our sizing works
We size our items like Next and Tu, where the tag size is “up to” the age it says inside. So, for example, if you buy a 3Y item, it’ll fit like a 2–3 years.
If the item isn’t stretchy, please bear in mind there’s no give in it. If your child is at the end of, or coming out of, their usual size, or is on the chunkier side like my own daughter, I would advise taking the size up.
All of our item descriptions include any relevant information.
This sizing has been tested on different children of different shapes and sizes, and is accurate.
Pre-order: this item will be dispatched once stock arrives. It won’t be sent straight away. If you order it with in-stock items, your whole order will be sent together when this item is ready.
